The Boys and Girls Club of Harlem danced to La Raspa and gladly sang along to Celito Lindo with San Antonio's 10-piece all female group Mariachi Las Alteñas yesterday afternoon. The 6-11 year old boys and girls already knew the words to Celito Lindo which they sang with much passion.
The students got a taste of San Antonio with more treats that included a Mexican food dinner and a piñata party. They were ecstatic over hitting the piñata and dived for pieces of candy with the same level of excitement as children from San Antonio. Each child received their own miniature piñata filled with candy and a San Antonio Convention and Visitors Bureau pencil.
The visit was part of the unveiling of the San Antonio window on Good Morning America yesterday. The window will be up for display at the studios of Good Morning America on Times Square through the end of December. It's a must see as the window depicts the beauty of San Antonio with colorful piñatas and images of everything from the Alamo to the Spurs and the River Walk to the Missions.

Mariachi music is to San Antonio what cajun music is to New Orleans; folklore music that is embedded in the culture reflecting the uniqueness of the Alamo City. That’s why Mariachi Las Alteñas was invited to join Mayor Julian Castro at the studios of ABC’s Good Morning America to help unveil the San Antonio window on display through the end of December. Mariachi Las Alteñas performed a beautiful mariachi rendition of Feliz Navidad and Sleigh Ride during the unveiling televised nationally.
Hundreds of mariachi musicians live and work in San Antonio and perform regularly at family and holiday celebrations such as weddings and birthdays as well as live concert settings and in local Mexican restaurants. The music is often festive and uplifting with songs that sing about love. Young and mature men and women play in mariachi groups of up to 12 members with instruments that include the violin, guitar, vihuela, trumpet, guitarron and harp.
San Antonio serves as host to one of the largest and longest running mariachi music festivals in the U.S. attracting thousands of people to the Alamo City every year. The event is traditionally held the first weekend of December. For more information log on to mariachimusic.com.

Mayor Julian Castro joined Diane Sawyer and Robin Roberts today to help unveil the San Antonio window at the studios of Good Morning America. Two of the most popular places to visit in Texas are the Alamo and the River Walk which are reflected in the window to be on display through the end of December in the heart of Times Square. Colorful piñatas, beautiful papel picado and luminaries are part of the display that was designed by Gil Giles to represent the warmth, friendliness and cultural uniqueness of San Antonio. Giles’ team members Robert Diaz De Leon and John Martinez were part of the design team who selected a colorful display that portrays the great energy and spirit of the Alamo city. The window is bright and colorful and is a good reminder of the thousands of lights that decorate the San Antonio River Walk around the Christmas holidays.
